It seems every one of us has heard of the “death panels” that will be going into effect sometime in the future when a government bureaucrat will determine who gets to be treated, and who will be left to die.

Death panels are something we have never had to even consider in the past…We must consider it now!

If our State can prevent them from affecting our citizens before they are in place…then we stand a great chance of keeping our Mom and Dad or Grandparents a little longer. This also may be effective in defending against the government denying kidney transplants, or extreme care for young cancer patients, babies born with serious costly medical needs, or even a knee replacement because life expectancy is only 5 more years.

You have heard it said that there is nothing “sure” in life, except death and taxes…. I for one want to pay taxes as long as possible and I surely do not want some corrupt IRS agent telling me that my health is too bad, and they won’t pay for medicine for me any longer.

End of life choices are already the law in North Dakota, but there is no law that will protect us from future death panels…this one might!

(SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
NO. 4009, 2013 SESSION LAWS, CH. 519)
This constitutional measure would create
and enact a new section to Article I of the
North Dakota Constitution stating, “The
inalienable right to life of every human being
at any stage of development must be
recognized and protected.”
